With the aim of continuing to develop its organisation "to reflect the needs of our customers and the wider value chain", Vestas has announced changes to its organisation on Wednesday.
The changes mean that the technology organisation (CTO) and the production and global purchasing organisation (COO) will no longer exist as independent units, but will instead be merged into one technology and operations organisation (CTOO). Vestas announced this in a statement.
The new business unit will be led by Vestas' current Chief Technology Officer, Anders Nielsen, and he will therefore be given the title CTOO in future. The new organisation is expected to be fully implemented during the third quarter of this year.
- Vestas has built up a strong backlog across onshore, offshore and service towards the end of this decade, and today we announce the next step in our organisational development to meet our customer commitments. The unified CTOO organization will help accelerate ramp-up and industrialization across Vestas and the industry by simplifying interfaces, collaboration and strengthening our end-to-end approach. I am very pleased that Anders Nielsen has agreed to continue to drive Vestas' industrialization forward, says Henrik Andersen, Group President & CEO of Vestas.
Farewell to employee of 25 years
However, the organizational change also means farewell to a long-standing important employee of Vestas. Thus, the current COO, Tommy Rahbek Nielsen, has decided to pursue opportunities outside Vestas as a result of the changes after more than 25 years with the company. He has held the position of COO since January 2020, first as an interim solution and from May of the same year as a permanent solution to the position. However, that time is now almost over.
- I would like to thank Tommy Rahbek Nielsen for his incredible contribution to Vestas over more than 25 years. In the role of COO, Tommy was crucial in keeping Vestas running during the pandemic, and he has done an excellent job of maturing our COO organization to a level that enables us to take the next step for the benefit of Vestas, says Henrik Andersen.
Tommy Rahbek Nielsen will remain at Vestas until the end of June 2024 to hand over his tasks. The organizational changes are only expected to affect senior management roles and not result in any restructuring at an operational level, Vestas informs.
