RWE has taken an important step in the construction of Thor, Denmark's largest offshore wind farm to date with a capacity of 1.1 gigawatts.

In just five months, all 72 foundations for the wind turbines have been installed in the North Sea off the west coast of Jutland. The foundations, each about 100 meters long and weighing up to 1,500 tons, have been transported from the port of Eemshaven in the Netherlands to the construction site 22 kilometers from the coast.

- The fast and efficient installation of the foundations is testament to the project team's great expertise, commitment and close cooperation, says Günther Fenle, Project Director for Thor at RWE.

More green markings

Thor marks more green progress.

Until the turbine towers are erected next year, the foundations will be protected by reusable covers, and the park will be the first in the world with steel towers produced with a reduced CO2 footprint.

Half of the turbines will also be equipped with reusable blades.

- Thor is not only a milestone for RWE, but also for the green transition in Denmark, says Pernille Haaning, Country Chair Denmark at RWE.

When the park is completed in 2027, it will be able to produce green electricity equivalent to the consumption of over one million households.

Thor is also expected to create 50-60 local jobs in operation and maintenance. RWE is building the project together with Norges Bank Investment Management, which owns 49 percent.
