TotalEnergies, in partnership with RWE, has been selected by the French Ministry of Industry and Energy as operator of the Centre Manche 2 offshore wind project off the coast of Normandy.
The 1.5 GW project will be the largest ever for renewable energy in France and will supply green electricity to over 1 million households.
The project represents an investment of approximately 4.5 billion euros and is expected to create up to 2,500 jobs during the three years of construction.
TotalEnergies has committed to offering 500,000 hours to apprentices and people in professional reintegration, as well as to engaging local companies and European suppliers.
- We are very proud to have won this tender for the construction of France's largest renewable energy park to date. It reflects Total's transformation into TotalEnergies in France. This project will be the largest investment that TotalEnergies has made in France in decades and demonstrates our deep commitment to our country,” said Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies. He continued:
- As an established player in Normandy, we are determined to mobilise our expertise to ensure that the project becomes an industrial success while ensuring local acceptance. We will work to support the local industrial ecosystem, which has already built up skills through the first offshore wind projects that are now being established. Finally, this project strengthens our development in green electricity generation to offer competitive prices to our French customers.
