Praise for Radikale's electrification plan from the business community

The Danish Social Democrats want to spend DKK 9.5 billion per year on electrifying Denmark through investments and removing barriers to the expansion of renewable energy on land.

Over the weekend, the Radicals launched their path to ensuring comprehensive electrification of Denmark, where the party will spend 9.5 billion. DKK per year, so that industry can receive support to convert their fossil factories, and citizens can get help to scrap oil and gas boilers.

The proposal is praised by the Danish Chamber of Commerce, which has put forward a "strong and ambitious proposal" for what is needed to kick-start electrification:

- The proposal addresses precisely those areas where action is needed: A higher pace in the electrification of society, removal of barriers to the expansion of renewable energy on land, a clear plan to exploit the offshore wind potential in cooperation with our neighboring countries, and a faster phasing out of oil and gas from heating, says Ulrich Bang, Deputy Director for Climate, Energy, Environment and Construction at the Danish Chamber of Commerce.

These are priorities that the Danish Chamber of Commerce is also working for, and therefore the organization is pleased that the Radical Left points to several of the solutions that we also propose, including a targeted electrification deduction for companies.

- It will both strengthen the green transition, contribute to lower energy prices and improve the competitiveness of Danish businesses. At the same time, clear and stable framework conditions in the energy sector will position Danish businesses stronger in a global context where competition for investments and jobs is fierce, says Ulrich Bang.

The employer and business organization Tekniq also praises the initiative.

- Without new initiatives, we risk that far too many homes will still have gas boilers in 2035. Radikale's proposal could be the push that ensures that district heating and heat pumps reach families, says Nicolai Siegumfeldt, deputy director of Tekniq.

- Radikale's proposal sends a clear signal to homeowners: Gas has an end date. The proposal can give Danes the security they need to plan the switch to green heating, he adds.
