German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has secured its first order in Ecuador.
A project developer has ordered 19 turbines of the N149/5.X type with a total capacity of 112 MW for a wind farm in the southern part of the country.
The turbines will be installed on steel towers with a hub height of 105 meters. The installation of the first turbine will begin in October 2026, and the entire park is expected to be operational in March 2027. The name of the customer and the project has not yet been announced.
The wind park will particularly strengthen Ecuador's electricity supply during the Amazon region's drought period and help reduce the risk of power outages.
When the project is completed, the country's total wind capacity will increase from 69 MW to 181 MW.
