"Energy policy forms a lifeline through our society, because the price of energy has a direct impact on our everyday lives. It should therefore be among the most important tasks of a new government to ensure that Denmark and Europe in the coming years become definitively and finally independent of black energy from unstable regimes," says Kristian Jensen. The parliamentary elections were called on Thursday and will be held on March 24, and in this connection Green Power Denmark is presenting six energy policy proposals to the incoming government. The organization points out that energy policy will have an impact on both prosperity and energy independence from unstable regimes. This is stated by Green Power Denmark in a press release.

According to the organization, a new government should, among other things, prepare a national action plan for electrification and make the temporary reduction in the electricity tax permanent. In addition, Green Power Denmark proposes a faster expansion of the transmission grid, a strategy for storage and use of batteries, a national strategy for the green energy industry and an updated PtX strategy with a focus on self-sufficiency with green fuels.

- Energy policy forms a lifeline through our society, because the price of energy has a direct impact on our everyday lives. It should therefore be one of the most important tasks of a new government to ensure that Denmark and Europe in the coming years become definitively and finally independent of black energy from unstable regimes, says Kristian Jensen, CEO of Green Power Denmark.

The organization emphasizes that the temporary lowering of the electricity tax to the EU's minimum rate over the past two years has given an average household a saving of DKK 3,600 per year. At the same time, 90 percent of Danish electricity consumption in 2024 was covered by renewable energy, according to the organization.

- The electricity tax is a basic household expense in line with the fixed expenses in the food budget. If a new government really wants to help the Danes and give them more room in the economy, a permanent reduction in the electricity tax is the easiest and most effective tool in the toolbox, says Kristian Jensen.

Green Power Denmark also points out that a lack of capacity in Energinet's transmission network can slow down the transition because companies cannot access the necessary electricity and therefore remain dependent on imported energy. The organization therefore calls for the expansion of the transmission grid to be set at a higher pace in the coming government period.
