Easter lunches and windy weather provide free electricity during Easter

Windy weather with a good chance of sun and public holidays means that electricity prices are expected to plummet over the Easter holidays. This is according to Troels Skipper, product manager at the energy company OK.

- You will almost have the perfect combination over the next few days, because the wind is expected to pick up, so that all the wind turbines are spinning, and then the sun should also be out, he says, adding:

- At the same time, many people are gathering for Easter lunches, for example, so there are fewer houses using electricity.

According to the product manager, the forecasts show that the pure electricity price will reach around or below zero kroner on Saturday, Sunday and Monday during the periods 13:00 to 15:00, 10:00 to 16:00 and 11:00 to 15:00. The expectation is that prices will not exceed 1.5 kroner even when electricity is most expensive between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

In addition to the pure electricity, customers must pay tariffs and VAT, among other things, and it is therefore not certain that zero kroner will appear on the electricity bill for the coming days.

Troels Skipper also emphasizes that there are of course always uncertainties associated with forecasts, but says that he is "pretty sure" that prices will be very low.

- The wind really needs to die down, and there is nothing to indicate that it will.

The energy company Norlys is a bit more cautious with its predictions, but customers can generally expect low prices there too, it says.

- We do not dare to predict what the exact price will be, but as things stand right now, we also expect low prices in the coming days, says press officer Michelle Hald.

She emphasizes that no one really knows the electricity prices more than a day in advance. The prices at the different energy companies may vary due to the agreement between customers and the company. However, the pure electricity price will be the same across the companies.
