Danske Commodities cuts 28 positions

Normally, turbulent energy markets like the ones currently seen are an advantage for Danish energy traders. For example, Danske Commodities, headquartered in Aarhus, earned DKK 14.9 billion before tax in 2022, when Russia's decision to shut off gas to Europe caused major price fluctuations. This is reported by Finans.

Whether it will be like this this time is not yet known, but Danske Commodities apparently does not dare to bet on equally golden times. In any case, the energy trader laid off 28 employees of the company's 551 employees in March as part of a new strategic direction for the company to adapt the organization to the new course.

- As part of this focus, we are also adjusting our organization so that it supports the new strategy. This has meant that 28 employees have had their positions terminated in March, says Jonas Skovbjerg Hansen, HR Manager at Danske Commodities.

According to the company, the strategy involves a more focused commercial effort with a view to strengthening the position in the energy markets. Previously, CEO Jakob Sørensen, who took over the position in September last year, pointed out that technological solutions will be crucial to maintaining competitiveness in an industry characterized by increasing competition.
