Vesta's German competitor Nordex Group has received an order from German energy company STAWAG Energie for the delivery of five wind turbines for the Frettertal project in Sauerland. The project will have a total capacity of 35 MW and will be built in the municipality of Finnentrop in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The agreement also includes a 20-year service contract. This is stated by Nordex Group in a press release.
The five turbines are of the N163/6.X type and will have a hub height of 164 meters. Installation is planned for the summer of 2027, while commissioning is expected in early 2028. The project area is characterized by hilly terrain with valleys and ridges, which according to Nordex makes tall towers particularly suitable for ensuring stable wind conditions and thus high production.
- This speaks in favor of the use of the N163/6.X turbines with a hub height of 164 meters, as the tall towers provide stable wind conditions at rotor height, which is crucial for many full load hours. We are very pleased with the order from STAWAG. The Frettertal wind farm will strengthen a region in Sauerland where the expansion of wind energy has so far been limited, but which has great potential with modern and efficient technology, says Felipe Villalon Waldburg-Zeil, Sales Director for Region Central at Nordex Group.
