HJØRRING: A majority in Hjørring City Council adopted at its meeting on Wednesday an amendment to the municipal plan, which makes it possible to erect six 173-meter-high wind turbines at Ilbro and Høgsted, according to the meeting minutes.
The project has previously been in a consultation phase, where the municipality received 38 responses expressing concern about the turbines' impact on, among other things, nature, landscape and property values.
However, according to the administration's recommendation, most of them do not give rise to changes.
- During the most recent city council term, not a single renewable energy plant was built in Hjørring. With this, we can get back on track and contribute to the green transition. The environmental assessment shows that the impact on nature, landscape and groundwater is limited. All legal requirements are met, was the argument from Tim Jensen (S) according to Nordjyske.
A minority of four city council members from the Danish People's Party, the Danish Democrats and the Vendelbo-Listen voted against.
The project is expected to have a total capacity of up to 43.2 MW and an annual production of around 120 GWh – equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 26,600 households.
