Vattenfall has inaugurated the Velinga wind farm in the municipality of Tidaholm in Sweden. The plant is being built from January 2024 and has a capacity of approximately 67 MW and an expected annual production of 173 GWh. The wind farm will increase the production of fossil-free electricity in southern Sweden, where electricity consumption is increasing. This is stated by Vattenfall in a press release.
- It is very pleasing that we can inaugurate the Velinga wind farm today. Vattenfall continues to drive the transition to a fossil-free society, and wind power plays an important role here. With Velinga, new, fossil-free electricity is being supplied to an expanding region. In the long term, this will strengthen not only the region's, but also Sweden's competitiveness, says Ulrika Ritzén, head of onshore wind at Vattenfall.
Vattenfall has more than 1,400 wind turbines with a total capacity of 6.7 GW in several European countries. The company plans to invest 62 billion DKK in wind activities up to 2030, of which DKK 59 billion in new projects.
