Nordex receives first order for its tallest wind turbine to date

Nordex Group has received its first order for the N175/6.X wind turbine, which has a hub height of 199 meters. The order is for a 21 MW project in Marienmünster-Altenbergen in North Rhine-Westphalia, where the company will install the turbine type, which is the wind turbine manufacturer's highest series-produced wind turbine to date.

The Marienmünster-Altenbergen project includes three turbines with a capacity of 7 MW each, which will be installed on Nordex's own hybrid towers with a combination of concrete and steel. Foundation work is expected to begin in September 2026, while commissioning is planned for summer 2027. A hub height of 199 meters and a total height to the blade tip of over 286 meters make it possible for the turbine to produce electricity even at low wind speeds, according to Nordex.

- We are very pleased to be able to carry out this pilot project together with Nordex and contribute to an important milestone in the wind energy sector. The extraordinary hub height of 199 meters is an important step for our region in the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy thanks to more stable production from wind turbines, says Alexander Möhring, CEO of Westfälisch-Niedersächsische Energie WNE.

According to Nordex, the higher production even at low wind speeds can be economically attractive, as electricity prices are often higher during these periods. At the same time, the technology contributes to a more stable supply of renewable energy.
