The next government should put the green transition at the top of the agenda regardless of political composition. This is highlighted by the Hydrogen Industry after the general election, which showed an unclear result, and where a new government has not yet been formed.
The organization particularly points out that the effort for indirect electrification through green hydrogen and PtX should be significantly strengthened. According to CEO of Hydrogen Industry, Tejs Laustsen Jensen, the current situation requires action across several crises.
- There is a lot to address in handling the crises that we in Denmark and Europe are facing. The only positive thing to say about the challenging situation regarding energy supply, dependence on imported fossil energy and weakened competitiveness is that the answer to all three is very much the same: A massive upscaling of renewable energy. It is of course about expanding green energy production, but equally about indirect electrification via green hydrogen and PtX, he says in a press release.
He points out that green hydrogen and PtX are key technologies in the transformation of sectors such as aviation and shipping, industry and agriculture, where direct electrification is difficult. At the same time, he emphasizes that Europe's dependence on fossil energy has become even more evident as a result of both the war in Ukraine and increased geopolitical uncertainty.
The hydrogen industry therefore calls on the incoming government to quickly develop a strategy for the production and use of green PtX fuels, including for civil aviation and the Armed Forces. According to the organization, it can both reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to a more efficient use of renewable energy.
The organization also points out that a strengthened effort can increase Denmark's energy independence and resilience in a more uncertain world.
