Denmark has reached 5 GW of solar cell capacity, which marks a milestone and at the same time points towards the next phase in the green transition with increased focus on the entire energy system. At its general meeting on March 19, 2026, the Danish Solar Cell Association adopted amendments to its statutes that open up a wider circle of members across the energy sector. In the future, the association will not only focus on solar cells, but also on the interaction between solar energy, batteries and intelligent control, and this opens up new members.
- We are in the middle of a shift. It is no longer just about producing more clean and green electricity, but about making the entire energy system work. Denmark must think more holistically in energy policy – and we as an association want to contribute to this to an even greater extent. Therefore, we are now opening up to a wider circle of actors in the membership, says Flemming V. Kristensen, chairman of the Danish Solar Cell Association, in a press release.
The association currently brings together companies and organizations within solar energy and energy storage, including installers, consultants, grid companies and public actors. The goal of the changes to the statutes is to strengthen the association's role as a network across the energy system's value chain and contribute to the development of a more flexible and robust energy system based on renewable energy.
