European Energy has sold its remaining stake in a 151 MW solar project in Mineo, Sicily, to Italian asset manager Sosteneo. With the deal, Sosteneo will take full ownership of the project and will be responsible for construction and subsequent operation, European Energy said in a press release.
The sale is the final step in a partnership that the two companies entered into in 2023, when Sosteneo purchased an initial 50 percent stake. of the project as part of a broader deal for solar assets in Sicily.
The project has since matured to the 'ready-to-build' stage and was awarded a CfD contract under the Italian FERX scheme in December 2025.
- This transaction is a clear example of how European Energy structures and executes step-by-step divestments, says Jens-Peter Zink, Deputy CEO of European Energy.
The Mineo project is part of the company's broader development activities in Italy, where European Energy has built a portfolio of large-scale solar projects in Sicily, Puglia and Molise, among others. In Sicily, the company is also working on a 225 MW agri-PV project near Vizzini, which has reached final investment decision following a CfD award.
