SF wants to save land by replacing old wind turbines with new ones

Many inefficient old wind turbines can be replaced by fewer new and more efficient turbines, SF suggests.

It should be easier to replace more old wind turbines that have low efficiency with fewer, new and more efficient wind turbines.

That is what SF believes, as in a new proposal it will refine legislation to create a more productive use of the areas for wind turbines on land.

- Denmark may well end up in a place where we have fewer turbines, but produce more green electricity because the new turbines are more efficient, says SF's climate spokesperson, Signe Munk.

Over time, over 5,000 wind turbines have been set up across the Danish countryside.

But a large number of wind turbines does not necessarily equal the largest possible production of green electricity.

Technology has developed dramatically, and this has made wind turbines much more efficient.

- It has been quite some time since Denmark started producing green electricity, says Signe Munk.

Modern According to Statistics Denmark, wind turbines produce up to 25 times more electricity than the wind turbines that were installed in the 1980s.

This development means that in principle fewer wind turbines and less land can be used to produce more electricity.

Signe Munk points out that this is relevant at a time when there is a demand for land for both nature and renewable energy.

- There are wind turbines all over Denmark that can be rebuilt, replaced or supplemented with solar cells to produce more green electricity, says Signe Munk.

SF believes that the approval processes are too long, that there are unclear definitions in the legislation, and that the rules for connecting wind turbines to the energy grid are uncertain.

- We need to have an administrative clean-up of the rules that make it difficult for municipalities and installers to carry out these projects today, says Signe Monk.
