PenSam is investing approximately half a billion in more sustainable energy supply in the UK. The investment is made through the manager AIP Management, which specializes in investments related to the sustainable transition.
When the plants are in operation, the batteries will be able to cover the electricity needs of 2.3 million British households for 3.5 hours and thus make a significant contribution to the UK's energy security as well as the green transition. PenSam CEO Torsten Frels sees great value in joining forces with other investors on this type of investment:
- It gives us the opportunity to lift projects in the billions that we could not realize alone. At the same time, it is an example of how Danish pension funds work globally to create both a long-term, attractive return for our members and a concrete climate effect, he says.
