European Parliament postpones vote on climate targets

First, the EU climate ministers postponed the decision on the climate goals for 2040, and now the European Parliament is following suit, writes Altinget.dk. On Tuesday, the Industry and Energy Committee was supposed to vote on the goal, but instead chose to postpone the vote. The large conservative group EPP is behind the postponement, which reflects the fact that it was also conservative government leaders who pushed last week to postpone the decision, when it was referred to a Council of Ministers meeting.

Conservative MEP Niels Flemming Hansen is annoyed by his own group's actions in this matter: "It is frustrating that we are once again experiencing delays in the work on one of our most urgent and long-term goals," he says.

For now, the vote in Parliament has been postponed indefinitely.
