In February 2022, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency initiated a new environmental assessment process for the onshore facilities of the Vesterhav Nord and Syd wind farms. The process has now reached the point where the final public phase for the Vesterhav Nord wind farm's onshore facilities will be initiated. This comes after the final public phase for the twin farm, Vesterhav Syd, was initiated on December 12 last year, Vattenfall, which is behind the two offshore wind farms, said in a press release.

The onshore facilities will enable the electricity from the offshore turbines to be sent to consumers via the electricity grid when the farms open in 2023. The onshore facilities for Vesterhav Nord are located in Lemvig Municipality and consist of a buried cable from the coast at Vejlby and a transformer station at Store Engbjerg. Energinet's cable from Station Engbjerg to Station Idomlund is located in the municipalities of Lemvig, Struer and Holstebro, and is also part of the onshore facilities.

- Consideration for nature and people is extremely important to Vattenfall, and we have had a good dialogue with the Danish Environmental Protection Agency. Now we look forward to hearing the public's perspectives on Vesterhav Nord's onshore facilities, says Mathilde Lindhardt Damsgaard, project director at Vattenfall for Vesterhav Syd and Nord.

The offshore wind farms Vesterhav Syd and Nord will be shipped from Thorsminde Port and must be fully connected by the end of 2023 at the latest and will have a total capacity of 344 MW, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of more than 350,000 Danish households. The final public phase for the onshore facilities only concerns installations on land. Vattenfall thus received an offshore establishment permit in 2020.

The public can submit consultation responses to the Danish Environmental Protection Agency from January 23 to March 20, 2023.
