AALBORG: Aalborg Forsyning is lowering the variable heating price from 1 January 2026. For an average consumer with a standard house of 125 square metres and an annual consumption of 13.4 MWh, this means a saving of around 500 kroner incl. VAT, corresponding to a price reduction of 3.1 percent.

According to Chairman of the Board Lasse Olsen, the price reduction is a step in the right direction after several years of rising heating prices. He also points out that the reduction is being implemented in parallel with major investments in the green transition at Aalborg Forsyning.

- We are pleased that we can now lower the price, although we are of course well aware that compared to the increases that have occurred in the heating price in Aalborg, this is a modest price reduction. But it is a step in the right direction, and it is worth keeping in mind that it is a price reduction that comes at the same time that Aalborg Forsyning is implementing large and ambitious investments in the green transition, says Lasse Olsen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aalborg Forsyning in a press release.

The heating price was raised three times in 2023 and 2024 due to, among other things, high coal prices and a breakdown at the North Jutland Power Plant, while the price was maintained in 2025. In 2026, the trend has reversed, and despite inflation and expectations of lower heat sales due to mild winters, the price can now be lowered.

According to acting CEO Jesper Høstgaard-Jensen, the price reduction is due to lower production costs. This is due, among other things, to together with falling coal prices, increased heat production at electrically powered plants and larger deliveries of surplus heat from Aalborg Portland, which reduces the need for heat from the North Jutland Power Plant.
