The mayor of Lemvig is actually happy about Denmark's wind adventure, and his municipality produces the most green electricity per capita and per square kilometer.
The municipality's largest port in Thyborøn is also ready to take on tasks within offshore wind. This applies both as a service port for future wind farms and even as a shipping port, where there is already a specially constructed quay ready for the purpose.
Yes, mayor Erik Flyvholm (V) is enthusiastic about wind turbines, and he also sits on the board of the port of Thyborøn, where offshore wind is part of the future. It all started with a visit to Christiansborg, where one question is still very clear to the mayor.
- It was while Martin Lidegaard (R) was a minister, and he asked: "Do you want coastal wind turbines?" That was before we had veto power in the municipalities within 12 km of the coast, says Erik Flyvholm.
When he later saw a draft that the Vesterhav Nord would be located off Agger Tange, and thus not off the coast of Lemvig Municipality, there was not much to think about.
- We had seen on the map that the Vesterhav Nord would be located at Agger Tange, says the mayor.
But that was going to change - quite a bit, when a delegation from Lemvig Municipality was going to the Danish Energy Agency for information.
- We then turn up, completely unaware, at a consultation meeting at the Danish Energy Agency, where a leaflet had been handed out, says Erik Flyvholm, before he stands up and purposefully reaches into a drawer behind him.
The same leaflet appears, the front page of which has placed the Vesterhav Nord off Agger Tange, but further inside the information leaflet, which has the location changed. Erik Flyvholm remembers his own reaction very clearly, because it was a very big surprise.
- I said to our municipal director: What is this? Is the wind farm suddenly in front of Harboøre, says Erik Flyvholm and continues:
- It's a strange story.
Although the story is so strange that he can't forget when Vesterhav Syd held moving day. However, he can take it with a dose of humor today. It also has something to do with his own residence, because Vesterhav Nord will be visible from the mayor's own house in Lemvig.
- I'll probably move my bedroom to the other end of the house, says Erik Flyvholm with a smile.
However, he is happy that municipalities can now veto coastal wind turbines within 12 km of the coast.
- Vesterhav Nord will be located 6-7 km from the coast, points out Erik Flyvholm
