The partnership agreement "US-Denmark Green Hydrogen Alliance" was signed on Wednesday by, among others, Kristian Jensen, CEO of Green Power Denmark. The signing ceremony took place in the US Congress in Washington, D.C. and was attended by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and US senators.

The partnership is intended to accelerate development so that the countries can start producing green hydrogen. This will benefit the climate and the companies in both countries, which have the opportunity to become frontrunners in green hydrogen and Power-to-X, writes Green Power Denmark in a press release.

- We are facing a gigantic challenge in converting heavy transport, and the only known technology that can solve the task is to convert green electricity into hydrogen and then into other green fuels. The USA and Denmark both have big plans to produce green hydrogen, and by working together we can bring ourselves to the forefront in the development of future technologies, says Kristian Jensen.

With the legislative package "Inflation Reduction Act", the USA has significantly raised the level of ambition and support for, among other things, green hydrogen. The production of green hydrogen has the prospect of support of up to 3 USD per kg of green hydrogen. In comparison, the upcoming Danish PtX tender has a bid ceiling of approx. 1.2 USD per kg of green hydrogen.

- There are great and positive perspectives in the American decision to support the production of green hydrogen so massively. But the Americans also demand knowledge and technology, and they get that thanks to the cooperation with Denmark, says Kristian Jensen.

The organization Brintbranchen is also pleased with the agreement.

- A formalized cooperation between our two countries will make it easier for green solutions to find their way to the American challenges, and in this way create value for both parties, says Tejs Laustsen Jensen, director of Brintbranchen.

The partnership agreement US-Denmark Green Hydrogen Alliance was signed today by the Danish partners Green Power Denmark, the Confederation of Danish Industry, the Danish Shipping Association, the Danish Business Authority, the Brintbranchen and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the American partners Green Hydrogen Coalition and the Greater Houston Partnership.
