The energy and consulting group NRGi has had its climate targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The approval means that the company is committing to a significant reduction in its CO2e emissions and working towards net-zero emissions by 2040. This is stated by NRGi in a press release.

SBTi is a global climate organization that supports companies' work to set science-based climate targets in line with the Paris Agreement's goal of limiting global temperature increase to 1.5 °C. Worldwide, almost 10,000 companies have had their climate targets approved by SBTi.

- Having our climate targets approved by SBTi is important proof that we are working systematically and purposefully to reduce our climate impact and support our ambition to contribute to a climate-neutral society, says Jacob Vittrup, CEO of NRGi.

Behind the approval are both short-term goals to reduce emissions towards 2030 and a long-term goal of net zero in 2040. The approval marks the start of the long-term work to meet the goals.

- Our ambition is to contribute to the green transition through a significant reduction of our CO2e emissions in scope 1, 2 and 3. This applies to both our own climate impact and the difference we can make together with our suppliers, customers and partners. The SBTi approval of our climate goals gives us a strong boost for our continued efforts to contribute to a more climate-neutral society, says Jacob Vittrup.
