A serious threat linked to a "foreign power" has been directed at the energy infrastructure in all Nordic countries. Authorities and police units in several countries have gone on alert. This is what the Swedish television station TV4 has learned.
According to TV4's information, several Swedish authorities have been involved in a joint international effort as a result of the threat.
At the same time, the police in Sweden have been ordered to guard socially critical companies in the energy industry, and police officers around the country have been told to be aware of all suspicious activities.
- It is intensive work that is ongoing, says an anonymous source to TV4.
Ritzau is trying to get information from the National Police whether the Danish police have received a similar order. The actor behind the threat must have stated a time limit within which a possible upcoming attack could take place.
- According to the threat, the actor could strike in the near future, a source tells TV4.
Swedish police have confirmed that they are aware of the information presented by the media. A spokesperson for the police's national media center tells the Swedish media that the police "are aware of the information, are following the situation and are cooperating with relevant actors".
