Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has entered into an agreement to sell the Summerfield Battery Energy Storage Project in South Australia to Palisade Investment Partners, which will take over the project through the company Intera Renewables. Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners announced this in a press release.
The project is a lithium-ion battery plant with an output of 240 MW and a storage capacity of 960 MWh. The plant is located near Adelaide, and CIP took over it in 2022. Since then, the fund has carried out key development activities, including agreements on marketing, procurement and grid connection, before construction began in February 2025.
The construction is now largely complete. The plant is expected to be energized in May 2026, while commercial operation is planned for the end of 2026. Once operational, it will contribute to the stability of the electricity grid in South Australia and support the state's goal of 100 percent renewable energy by 2027.
- We are pleased to have reached an agreement to sell Summerfield to Palisade. CIP has reduced the risk in this large-scale battery project through development and construction and demonstrated our ability to manage risk and create value for our investors, says Thomas Wibe Poulsen, Partner and APAC Head at Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
