Mette Frederiksen has called an election
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) has called elections for the Folketing on 24 March at 12:48 on Thursday.
This was done in a "statement of a special nature", as it is called.
Previously, she had thanked Troels Lund Poulsen (V) and Lars Løkke Rasmussen (M) for their cooperation in the government during the past period.
- Now we are parting ways and going our separate ways, because the differences between our parties have become clearer, and thank you for that, she said, adding that she is looking forward to the election campaign.
- Sharp debates await. It will be a Danish election campaign at its best, she predicted and wished everyone a good election campaign.
She also announced that the Social Democrats will come up with a pension proposal in the election campaign, just as the party will propose a wealth tax. The party also wants to remove the property value tax for homes valued at less than one million kroner - as a helping hand to outlying areas.
