Three innovation projects have been nominated for the award as Innovation Project of the Year 2026 at Energy Cluster Denmark. The three candidates are FOD4Wind, PACMAN and SkyClean Scale-up, which work with drone-based inspection and package delivery for offshore wind turbines, AI for monitoring corrosion on offshore installations and pyrolysis plants for CO2 storage and green energy, respectively. This is stated by Energy Cluster Denmark in a press release.
According to Energy Cluster Denmark, the candidates have been selected from innovation projects that have developed and tested energy technology solutions with a view to deployment in the past year.
- I am proud of the great effort and collaboration that has been made in the innovation projects, which each year result in new green solutions that meet the real needs of the energy industry and create CO2 reductions and increased growth. Together with all our members, I look forward to choosing this year's winner at Energy Cluster Denmark's Annual Meeting, where we bring together the entire energy sector for debates and presentations within green innovation, says Glenda Napier, CEO of Energy Cluster Denmark.
The FOD4Wind project has developed and tested an autonomous drone for inspection and delivery of equipment for offshore wind turbines. The solution can reduce the need for transport of personnel between ship and turbine, thereby both lowering costs and improving safety.
PACMAN has developed an AI-based 3D platform that can automatically identify and assess corrosion on offshore installations. The technology makes it possible to replace manual inspections and can significantly reduce both time consumption and offshore transport.
SkyClean Scale-up includes a pyrolysis plant that converts biomass into biochar, which can store CO2 in the ground, while also producing green energy. The plant can thus both contribute to CO2 reduction and replace fossil fuels.
The winner will be chosen at the energy cluster's annual meeting on May 13, 2026 in Aalborg, where participants can vote among the three nominated projects.
