Thomas Bustrup, who was fired as deputy CEO of the Confederation of Danish Industry on Monday, has resigned from the board of directors of Impact Fund Denmark. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed Ritzau.
Bustrup was sentenced to 20 days of suspended imprisonment by the Court on Bornholm on Monday for two cases of drunk driving on the same day. The now former DI director admitted the circumstances and received the sentence.
Impact Fund Denmark is an independent state institution that invests in climate projects in developing countries - previously known as the Investment Fund for Developing Countries. According to the fund's own website, the board of directors of the fund is appointed by the Danish Minister for Development Cooperation.
In connection with the case of drunk driving, Thomas Bustrup has also returned his royal order to the royal house. This was announced by the royal house's communications department on Monday. The royal house has previously revoked orders whose recipients are in conflict with the law.
On June 9, Bustrup was stopped twice by the police. He was first stopped by the police on Sverigesvej in Rønne. He was given a blood test that showed a blood alcohol level of 1.87.
Although he was told not to drive any further, he went for a walk for about 45 minutes and then boarded the ferry from Rønne to Ystad in Sweden. And on the Øresund Motorway in Kastrup, he was stopped again by the police. A blood test showed a blood alcohol level of 1.95.
Thomas Bustrup has been employed by the Confederation of Danish Industries since 1996. Most recently, he was responsible for the organization's international activities. In addition to Monday's prison sentence, Thomas Bustrup was fined 117,000 kroner and lost his driver's license for eight years.
