The possibilities for nuclear power in Denmark must be examined carefully before decisions can be made to change the current ban, emphasizes Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard (M). This is the position expressed by Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard (M) in an article in Berlingske.

The minister points out that the debate on nuclear power is often characterized by wishful thinking, and that a solid foundation is needed before Denmark can take the next step. The government has therefore launched a study into what it will take for society to open up to nuclear power, including issues of waste management, safety and authority competences.

"The new types of nuclear power must continue to mature, and as far as I know, investors are not queuing up. Lifting the ban on nuclear power in energy planning without doing anything else would be the kind of symbolic politics that dominates far too large parts of the political conversation," the minister writes.

Aagaard describes himself as a technology optimist and emphasizes that new technologies should be assessed openly in relation to the green transition. But he does not believe that Denmark should rush into the issue of nuclear power. - "Let's just slow down," says the minister.
