The gas pipeline project, which will connect Lolland and Falster to the national gas network, now has the necessary regulatory permits in place and is therefore now entering a new phase. This is stated by Evida in a press release.

The new phase involves archaeological investigations and agreements must also be reached with the landowners about the areas that Evida and Energinet will use to build the pipeline. The first step is archaeological preliminary investigations and inspections of areas with a view to expropriation.

- There are many preparations involved in such a large construction project. With the necessary regulatory approvals in place, we have reached another milestone, which means that we are now entering the next phase of the project, where there is a particular focus on the technical construction of the gas pipeline to Lolland and Falster, says Søren Hylleberg Sørensen, Operations Director at Evida.

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency has granted Evida and Energinet a so-called §25 permit to establish a gas pipeline from Everdrup in Næstved Municipality to Nakskov in Lolland Municipality. The §25 permit describes the conditions that Evida and Energinet must comply with when constructing the gas pipeline. A single complaint has been filed against the permit by the deadline for complaints on June 10. However, these do not have an immediate suspensive effect.

Evida also states that an agreement has also been reached with the company Nordic Sugar on the distribution of gas to the sugar factories in Nakskov and Nykøbing. The two factories will thus be connected to the gas pipeline to Lolland and Falster and are scheduled to be connected by September 2024 at the latest.

The actual construction work for the gas pipeline to Lolland and Falster is scheduled to begin in 2023. The project initially had a budget of 792 million DKK, but the total price for the project has since increased to 1,016 million DKK.
