The bill of 792 million DKK for the new 115 km long gas pipeline to Lolland will largely be covered by the country's approximately 400,000 gas customers, of which 380,000 are private customers. 84 million DKK will be covered by Andel, but the remaining 708 million DKK will be covered by the rest of the country's gas customers, writes Finans.
- The rest will be covered by tariff charges, whereby the project is ultimately financed by gas consumers, writes Minister for Climate and Energy Dan Jørgensen in a response to the Danish Parliament.
According to the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, the gas pipeline is important not least for Nordic Sugar, which has production plants in Nykøbing Falster and Nakskov. According to the ministry, Nordic Sugar is Denmark's second largest CO2 emitter and emitted 162,000 tons in 2019. Gas is significantly more climate-friendly as an energy source than, for example, oil or coal. And Lolland-Falster is currently one of the only areas in Denmark where industry and housing do not have access to gas.
