A new drama documentary from DR depicts the early days of the company A.P. Møller-Mærsk in the late 1920s. The series will premiere on December 28 in the morning on DRTV and in the evening on DR1. DR writes this in a press release.
The series, which has been named "Dynastiet Mærsk", will consist of three episodes. Jacob Lohmann takes on the role of A.P. Møller, while Oscar Giese takes on the role of a young Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller.
The series delves into the period around the Wall Street crash in 1929, when many Danish companies went under and went home. In 1928, A.P. Møller had expanded his shipping business through new and large investments, which the series delves into.
The series will focus, among other things, on how A.P. Møller will invest his way through the crisis by, among other things, seeing opportunities in the transport of oil and fossil fuels, which at that time were not the primary energy source in the world, writes DR.
A.P. Møller-Mærsk is today the world's largest shipping and logistics company with around 100,000 employees, 700 container ships and activities in 130 countries.
Anne Garlichs, head of external television at DR, says that the ambition with the storytelling is to cultivate the stories that have influenced Danish history.
- With "The Mærsk Dynasty" we tell the story of the beginning of what will not only become one of the largest and most important companies, but also families, in Denmark.
- Through the story of A.P. Møller gives the series a picture of what the years leading up to World War II meant for Danish businesspeople, she says.
Anne Garlichs says that the series will depict the dilemmas Danish businesspeople faced during the German occupation, as well as how this period shaped business life in Denmark for several decades to come.
Sonja Richter takes on the role of A.P. Møller's wife, Chastine. Businessman H.N. Andersen is played by Jesper Christensen, while former Social Democratic Prime Minister Thorvald Stauning is played by Preben Kristensen.
The remaining episodes can be seen the following two Sundays on DR1. All episodes are available on DRTV from December 28.
