Homeowners can save up to 150,000 kroner over the lifetime of a gas boiler by switching to a heat pump. This is shown by new calculations that compare the two heat sources over 20 years, including investment, subsidies and operating costs. This is stated by the Danish Heat Pump Industry in a press release.
- Heat pumps are one of the cheapest ways to green heat, but the size of the initial investment can seem overwhelming to the customer and take focus away from the overall savings and value they add. It is a shame, as the green transition of Denmark is thus delayed, says Niels Peter Skov, chairman of the board of the Danish Heat Pump Industry association.
The industry association is pleased that the subsidy for individual heat pumps has recently been increased from 17,000 kroner to 27,000 kroner, but points out that a deduction instead of a pool scheme could get more people to invest faster. In 2022, around 40,000 water-based heat pumps were installed, while the number in 2025 is expected to be around 16,000. After a significant decline in 2024, the market is however on the rise again.
