From January 1, fuel companies must publish their pump prices online. The purpose is to increase transparency and strengthen competition in the gasoline and diesel market. This is stated by the Ministry of Business and Industry in a press release.
To make it as easy as possible for consumers to find the cheapest fuel, the Ministry of Business and Industry has been in dialogue with Google about making fuel prices available in Google Maps. This function will be available from the turn of the year, and thus consumers will be able to see prices in real time and easily find the cheapest gas station from the turn of the year.
- From the turn of the year, all fuel companies must publish their prices in real time online. That is why I am pleased that in dialogue with Google we have got the prices directly into Google Maps. With the help of Google, you can find the cheapest price from your couch before you get behind the wheel, says Morten Bødskov, Minister of Industry and Trade.
The Danish Competition and Consumer Authority will monitor whether the initiative increases competition for the benefit of motorists.
