The wheels of the energy group Ewii were turning in 2023. Overall, the group delivered a profit after tax of 426 million. DKK, which was only seen higher in the record year 2019. This is stated by Ewii in a press release.
- 2023 was a good year for the Ewii Group, and we are satisfied with the result, which in particular shows that we have had good control of our operations. We have established a number of systems and processes - and this has provided good control in the business, where we are strong in our infrastructure business and have the wind in our sails commercially, says Lars Bonderup Bjørn, CEO of the Ewii Group.
However, in terms of revenue, Ewii fell slightly, to 3.2 billion. DKK against almost 3.5 billion. kr the year before.
Expanding geographically and commercially
Electrification and green transition have left their mark on the Ewii Group in the past year, which has resulted in good momentum in business areas with the expansion of the electricity grid and district heating and, not least, the installation of charging stations for electric cars across the country.
- In the charging area, our network of publicly accessible charging stations has grown rapidly, especially strengthened by the fact that we won several municipal tenders during the year, says Lars Bonderup Bjørn.
2023 was also the year in which Ewii launched a major initiative in the battery area. The group is in the process of establishing a capacity of 47MW/63MWh via battery plants both East and West of the Great Belt – among other things, Denmark's largest battery to date is under construction on Bornholm, illustrating the group's commitment to the green transition.
Ewii is based in the Triangle area. However, during 2023, the group's map was expanded both domestically and internationally. In March, Ewii took over the research-based company FlexShape, which is based in Kolding and Lithuania, and with the establishment of an office in Lyngby, the energy group is now represented in Kolding, Rønne, Aalborg, Odense, Copenhagen, Vejle and Vilnius.
In terms of business, Ewii has also expanded geographically and is nationally present with all its commercial businesses.
Expecting growth in 2024
In 2024, Ewii expects to continue to deliver innovative green solutions and sustainable growth across its business areas. The group's most important contribution in these years is probably the perspective called sector coupling. However, the company expects the profit to be lower and end up in the range of 75-100 million. kr.
- We are not only committed to solving climate problems, but also to the entire environmental side, where our water business in particular is feeling the consequences of past pollution, says Lars Bonderup Bjørn.
