The Mahshahr Special Petrochemical Zone in the Iranian province of Khuzestan was hit by Israeli-American attacks on Saturday, the Iranian media ISNA reported, citing Reuters. It is not yet clear whether there were any casualties or deaths in the attack.

According to the Iranian news agency Fars, three companies were hit.

At the same time, there are reports of a second attack that hit an area around a nuclear power plant in Bushehr, and a third attack that hit a passenger terminal at a border crossing between Iran and Iraq.

A guard at the Bushehr nuclear power plant was killed in the attack, and a building on the nuclear power plant site was damaged, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on the social media X.

On the border between Iran and Iraq, an Iraqi driver lost his life, while five other Iraqis were seriously injured. As a result of the attack, Iraqi authorities have closed the border crossing.

A fourth attack has hit a cement factory in Bandar Khamir in southern Iran, Ahmad Nafisi, deputy governor of Hormozgan province, was quoted as saying by Tasnim. No one was injured in this attack.

The Mahshahr Special Petrochemical Zone was the first location to report an attack on Saturday morning. The zone is located close to the coast of the Persian Gulf - about 90 kilometers from the border with Iraq. The industrial area includes a large number of facilities that process oil and gas and produce chemical products.

US President Donald Trump has previously threatened to attack Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure if Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is normally used to ship oil and natural gas from the countries surrounding the Persian Gulf.

Trump has several times extended the deadline for when the US will start bombing the power plants. This is due to progress in negotiations about the war, which according to Trump is taking place between Iran and the US.

He most recently said that the US will not attack the Iranian power plants until Monday, April 6 at 8 p.m. local time.
