Andel Energi is now intensifying its work to phase out gas as a heat source. This is happening through a merger with the subsidiary Enova Energy, which will in future become an integrated part of the energy group. With the merger, Andel Energi wants to strengthen the sale of heat pumps as an alternative to gas for the company's 130,000 gas customers.
A political ambition aims to phase out gas as a heat source in Denmark by 2035 at the latest. With the merger, Andel Energi will have the opportunity to join forces on consulting and installing heat pumps as a replacement for gas boilers in thousands of homes.
- Gas is generally a climate-damaging heat source, so of course it must be phased out, even if it costs the bottom line, says Marlene Holmgaard Fris, CEO of Andel Energi.
The company acquired Enova Energy shortly before the energy crisis in 2022, and the company has since been operated as an independent subsidiary. The merger is now taking place to gather competencies and resources in one organization with common goals.
- It will ensure a more focused organization that can also draw on competencies and resources in the rest of the business when we need to help customers with an alternative to gas, says Marlene Holmgaard Fris.
Maintains early phase-out goal
In connection with the acquisition of Enova Energy, Andel Energi announced that the company would phase out gas by the end of 2029. Since then, however, the conditions for achieving this goal have changed, not least because many planned district heating projects have been dropped since 2022.
- Heating your home is quite essential. Therefore, it is of course associated with great uncertainty when what you thought was your future heat source suddenly disappears. It is therefore important to emphasize that although our ambition is still to phase out in 2029, we at Andel Energi will not leave any gas customers without a viable alternative, says Marlene Holmgaard Fris.
At the same time as the merger, a new business area is being established under the name Technology & Service. Director of Enova Energy, David Neville, will be responsible for the area and join Andel Energi's management. The merger will take effect on July 1.
