Susanne Kruse Sørensen has resigned as manager of the municipally owned Esbjerg Airport with immediate effect. This is reported by JydskeVestkysten. According to the media outlet, a severance agreement has been reached, which means that she has left her position immediately. She has been the airport manager for the airport, which is an important transport nerve for the energy industry in Esbjerg, since August 2020.
The departure comes after a period in which the airport has been the subject of criticism. Three external reports commissioned by Esbjerg Municipality pointed out, among other things, problems in operations and criticized the management. Susanne Kruse Sørensen has previously rejected the criticism that the reports draw to the media. JydskeVestkysten has previously described challenges with, among other things, the working environment, safety and management based on statements from current and former employees.
It is still unknown whether a new airport manager will be found. This depends on an ongoing political process, where work is being done to bring the airport and the Port of Esbjerg under one common management in a municipally owned company. For the time being, Allan Dahl Leiberg, who is the environment and secretariat manager in Esbjerg Municipality, will take over the daily management of the airport. Both Susanne Kruse Sørensen and municipal director Rikke Vestergaard have informed JydskeVestkysten that they have no comments on the matter.
