The Social Democrats will not privatize Energinet

The Social Democrats do not want to privatize Energinet, even though the state-owned company has put new connections to the electricity grid on hold and rejected more than 50 companies. The party thus rejects that tasks should be transferred to private players, even though the pressure on the electricity grid has increased. According to Finans, Energinet has received applications that together correspond to an eightfold increase in electricity consumption, which has led to a three-month pause for new projects. This is what Finans writes.

- The electricity grid is the backbone of Danish infrastructure. Without it, there would be no electricity for hospitals, nursing homes, businesses and all Danish homes. In other words, it is absolutely crucial for Denmark's security of supply and should therefore not be in private hands, says Christian Rabjerg Madsen, political spokesman for the Social Democrats.

At the same time, the Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard (M) has commissioned an analysis of Energinet's ownership and tasks. According to Finans, the Liberal Party, the Conservatives and the Liberal Alliance are open to private parties bidding for parts of the tasks.
