Vestas: cyberattacks have not resulted in significant additional costs

Økonomi

Vestas was hit by a cyberattack on November 19 last year, which led to a temporary shutdown of all systems. In addition, data from the company was subsequently leaked. However, the attack has not had a significant impact on Vestas' business to any great extent.

- The attack has not caused a significant direct impact on Vestas' operations or added significant additional costs, as the wind turbines remained unaffected, but it resulted in a temporary shutdown of certain internal IT systems and required a redeployment of significant internal resources to handle the attack and minimize the consequences. The attack thus temporarily impacted our efficiency and the organization's ability to be fully focused on execution at year-end, according to a statement from the company in connection with the preliminary financial figures for 2021.

However, Vestas states that it is now working to "strengthen both our own and the energy system's cybersecurity and resilience."
