Virtually all systems are back up and running for Vestas after the company was subjected to a cyber attack in November. The prepared situation was achieved, among other things, with the help of external experts. However, the hackers have tried to blackmail Vestas. The company states this in a press release about the status after the attack.

- On November 19, Vestas discovered an attack from a threat actor, who we are happy to announce failed in their attempt to blackmail Vestas. Our resilience in such a difficult situation is strengthened by the support we have received from our customers, employees, suppliers and other partners, and on behalf of the management and the board of directors, I would like to thank everyone who has helped us get to where we are now, says Henrik Andersen, CEO of Vestas.

However, it is not only good news that the CEO can announce on Monday. Thus, the hackers have succeeded in stealing data from Vestas and these have been leaked and attempted to be resold.

- Unfortunately, the hackers have succeeded in stealing data from Vestas, and this data has been illegally shared externally. To mitigate this situation, we are working hard to identify any leaked data and will cooperate with affected stakeholders and authorities. In this regard, we ask for continued support, understanding and condemnation of criminal activities such as ransomware and illegal sharing of data, Henrik Andersen continues.

According to the company's assessment, however, it is mainly data related to Vestas' internal affairs, such as personnel data, that the hackers have obtained. Therefore, according to the company, supplier and customer data is not affected by the leak. This is an assessment that, according to Vestas, is shared by external experts.
