Five projects within Danish-made wind turbines and technology for Power-to-X will receive new support from the government's green investment scheme for projects that will collectively lead to investments of DKK 4.2 billion from the four companies behind the projects. This was announced by the Ministry of Business and Industry in a statement.
The Danish Export and Investment Fund has made the decision on the distribution of the allocated funds after the scheme opened for applications in January 2024. The scheme has made it possible to apply for up to 15 percent of the establishment costs through direct subsidies.
- The USA is doing it. China is doing it. And a number of European countries are doing it. And there is no way around it: we must follow suit. Denmark is known for world-class green production and we must of course protect and maintain that position. I do not have an ideological infatuation with the idea of state aid, but the government's green investment scheme is born of a cool overview and necessity, says Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities, Lars Aagaard (M).
The majority of the funds (537.5 million DKK) will go to Siemens Gamesa, which will invest in two projects in Aalborg and Esbjerg, respectively, and expects to create approximately 500 new jobs, the majority in Esbjerg, where, with support of 375 million DKK, manufacturing and assembly capacity for offshore nacelles, office facilities, outdoor storage areas and transport corridors will be established to accommodate increased activity at the Port of Esbjerg.
The company Niebuhr Gears will receive support for a project in Ikast, which can create approximately 30-40 jobs, the company Advanced Surface Plating will receive support for facilities in Randers, which are expected to create approximately 80 jobs, while the last project Njord Assembly Lines is expected to create approx. 175 jobs in the Southern Denmark region, where exactly Njord Assembly Lines plans to implement their project and who is behind the project is not yet disclosed for business reasons.
- With large state aid programs, green billions of investments are being attracted to China and the USA. The government wants to defend and strengthen Danish positions of strength. This applies, among other things, to wind production and PTX technology. Today, support is secured from the green investment support scheme for five projects, which will create approx. 800 new jobs, and together more than 4.2 billion DKK is being invested in new jobs. This is good for Denmark and the growth of our strong green production industry, says Morten Bødskov (S), who is Minister of Industry and Trade.
The scheme is targeted at companies that want to establish production facilities within wind technology, technology for Power-to-X (electrolysis) as well as subcontractors for the two industries. No decision has yet been made on any funds in 2025.
