CO-industri and DI have entered into a new agreement on collective agreements for the approximately 230,000 employees in the industry. The agreement ensures higher wages, better pension payments and new rights that will make it easier to balance work and family life. CO-industri writes this in a press release.
- Right now the world is in turmoil, and there is great uncertainty. It is time for the social partners to stand together and ensure stability. We have made a good agreement that gives employees more money in their paychecks, so that real wages can increase, and we get new rights to take time off with our families, says the chairman of CO-industri Claus Jensen, who is also the chairman of Dansk Metal.
The agreement means that the voluntary account will increase by two percent, while the pension will increase by one percent over the next three years. At the same time, parents are entitled to time off on a child's third day of illness, grandparents can take two annual care days with their grandchildren, and employees are given the opportunity to accompany relatives to medical and official appointments.
- The new rights are a historic advance in the Danish labor market. Now we can more easily reconcile family life with work. It also marks a turning point in relation to the collective agreement itself - traditionally, flexibility has mainly been about what companies want their employees to do. But now we are talking about flexibility on employees' terms. This is quite natural, because in modern working life there must of course also be room for a good family life, and it has been absolutely crucial for us that we talk about rights - it should not be up for debate in the company, says Mads Andersen, vice chairman of CO-industri and chairman of 3F Industrigruppen.
The collective agreement also strengthens the role of occupational health and safety representatives. They will in future receive a remuneration of DKK 9,000 annually if they are a member of one of CO-industri's member unions.
- The elected representatives are the backbone of the Danish model. The occupational health and safety representatives help ensure better safety and fewer injuries in the workplace, and this benefits both the company and the employees. Therefore, it is entirely appropriate that the great work is now recognized with remuneration, says Claus Jensen.
The agreement, which is valid until March 1, 2028, also sets the financial framework for future collective bargaining negotiations in the private labor market.
