FREDERIKSHAVN: The debt in the Port of Frederikshavn is around 1.5 billion. DKK. Soon, however, it will probably be even higher. Tomorrow, the city council will discuss in a closed session whether the municipality will guarantee two new loans. DOI.dk has learned from a reliable source that the amounts involved are a total of 35 million. DKK.

The two-part guarantee consists of 20 million. DKK, which will be used to complete the Stena Oil tank terminal, which has already cost the port 460 million. DKK, which is far more than the budgeted 210 million. DKK. When and if the new guarantees are passed by the city council tomorrow, the terminal will have cost a whopping 480 million. DKK.

The remaining 15 million. According to information available to DOI.dk, the amount will be used for repairs after the ship "Zafiro Producer" broke free from its mooring in Frederikshavn Harbour during the autumn storms in October last year. The ship is being scrapped by the company M.A.R.S. Europe A/S, which dismantles ships and drilling platforms.

This is the third time in a short time that the municipality has to decide whether it will guarantee new loans at the municipally owned Frederikshavn Harbour. In the autumn of 2023, the city council politicians nodded "yes" to doing so all times for loans with a total value of 207 million kr.
