DCC Energi has entered into an agreement to take over 21 unmanned filling stations from HK Olie. With the acquisition, the Danish Shell network grows by more than 10 percent to a total of 216 manned and unmanned stations. The deal must be approved by the competition authorities. This is stated by DCC Energi in a press release.
The stations will become part of the Shell Express network, which DCC Energi has operated under license since 2016. The expansion particularly strengthens coverage in Central and South Jutland, where, according to the company, drivers and card customers will have around 30 percent better access to Shell fuels.
- We see an interesting business opportunity in transferring the 21 facilities to the Shell network, and with the acquisition we can roll out our unmanned station concept and Shell's quality fuels to customers in new areas. At the same time, we see good potential in the synergy effects that lie in expanding the Shell Express network and drawing on our well-developed distribution setup,” explains Daniel Andersen, CEO of DCC Energi, and continues:
- The Danish car fleet is in the middle of a transition to electric cars, in which we are also investing heavily with fast chargers and charging solutions for private individuals and companies. However, there is still a need for traditional fuels, and as a nationwide energy company, our task is to assist all customers with good energy solutions for the home, for the business and on the go. Therefore, we will also invest in strengthening the gas station business in the future – both in terms of accessibility, product selection, convenience and customer service
If the deal is approved, the stations are expected to be formally taken over in the second quarter of 2026. After that, they will gradually be converted with new payment terminals, and facilities with car washes will be integrated into the Shell Bilvask concept with the option of a fixed monthly payment. Shortly after the takeover, Drivers could fill up with Shell fuels at the 21 stations.
