The travel company Bravo Tours is now sending out warnings to customers that additional bills are on the way due to rising fuel prices. This is reported by TV 2, which has spoken to CEO Peder Hornshøj. He calls the situation "extraordinary" and "grotesque".
- This has cost us many millions of kroner. It is clear that we cannot continue to absorb this without doing something, says Peder Hornshøj to TV 2.
The law allows travel companies to charge up to eight percent on top of the original price of a package tour when the price of fuel increases.
Customers must be notified no later than 20 days before departure, and according to Peder Hornshøj, this typically involves an additional bill of around 200 kroner per person.
The conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran is mainly responsible for the rising fuel prices. The Iranians have responded to the American and Israeli attacks by trying to block shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
The strait is an important hub for the export of oil and natural gas from oil fields in the Middle East. It is estimated that around 20 percent of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas pass through the waters. Therefore, a blockade means that the supply of fuel on the world market has decreased, leading to higher prices.
