Despite poor bottom conditions :
Vattenfall and Ørsted want to get Hesselø tender underway

The tender for the Hesselø Offshore Wind Farm was put on hold last year when closer examinations of the bottom conditions showed that the soil conditions were more difficult than expected, specifically soft clay bottom in the upper 20-30 meters below the seabed. Nevertheless, Vattenfall and Ørsted have indicated to Klimamonitor that the park can be established in areas, and therefore the tender should be launched as soon as possible.

"Europe needs more than ever to accelerate the green transition. Despite the significant technical challenges at the Hesselø site, we find it possible to implement the project, and therefore we believe that a tender should be held as soon as possible," writes Ulrik Stridbæk, head of energy economics at Ørsted, in a response to the media.

This is a view shared by Vattenfall. The Hesselø Offshore Wind Farm is planned to have a capacity of between 800-1,200 MW and was originally planned to be put into operation and connected to the grid in 2027.
