N1 has appointed Thomas Flarup, commercial director of Terma and former head of the Center for Cybersecurity, as a new member of the electricity grid company's board of directors.
Flarup took up the position of commercial director of the defense and security company Terma in 2024. Previously, he had held senior positions at KMD and TDC, among others, and from 2022 to the end of 2024 he was head of the Center for Cybersecurity. He has also been a member of the board of the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA).
N1's electricity grid covers around 40 percent of Denmark's total area and supplies electricity to 800,000 households and businesses in Jutland. The company plans investments of approximately DKK 1.8 billion this year, including for physical and digital security of the critical infrastructure.
- It is a core prerequisite for a modern, electrified society to have a stable and well-functioning electricity grid. This requires investments in both digital development and, not least, security around the electricity grid. Fortunately, N1 has been among those who have taken the lead and set a high standard here. I look forward to contributing to this work on the board, says Thomas Flarup.
According to N1's chairman, Anders Stouge, Flarup's experience with cybersecurity is an important asset at a time when the geopolitical situation places greater demands on the resilience of the electricity grid.
- The geopolitical situation places more demands on our resilience, and it is therefore crucial that we field the best team at all levels to maintain the high stability and security that characterizes our electricity grid. Thomas has extensive experience in the digital area and a unique knowledge of cybersecurity and is therefore a strong addition to the board, says Anders Stouge, chairman of the board of Elnetselskabet N1.
