The ship behind the rupture of Bornholm's submarine cable is likely found

On February 26, the power went out on Bornholm. According to Energinet, the reason for the power outage is that an anchor has damaged the submarine cable connecting Bornholm with Sweden. At the time of the power outage, the shipping company Uni-Tankers' tanker Samus Swan was at the location in question where the cable was damaged. The shipping company also confirms to TV2 Bornholm that Samus Swan is involved in the current case of a submarine cable break.

- We can confirm that the vessel passed the island around the time of the power outage. Since they were not aware of the potential involvement, the vessel continued its voyage. When they arrived in Rotterdam, the Dutch authorities visited the ship and questioned the crew to see if there was any potential involvement. We are cooperating, and that is where we are at the moment, says Cor Radings, press spokesman for Uni-Tankers, which is headquartered in Middelfart.

Energinet is in the process of repairing the damage and has previously stated that a comparable case involving damage to a submarine cable cost 100 million DKK to repair. According to Steffan Ladegaard Morrison, head of department at Energinet, this repair will be "a little cheaper". This means that there could potentially be a large compensation claim against Uni-Tankers.
