It has been a particularly challenging year for Siemens Gamesa on many fronts. Most prominently, the corona crisis has hit the whole world, closed factories and brought uncertainty with it and sent several countries' economies back down.
However, for Siemens Gamesa, there has also been a crisis on the internal lines, which in June ended with the parting with CEO Markus Tacke with immediate effect. Instead, Siemens Gamesa brought in Andreas Nauen, who had until then been at the forefront of offshore, as the new CEO.
However, Siemens Gamesa is now rounding off the financial year and has presented its fourth quarter and annual accounts.
In the fourth quarter, Siemens Gamesa has a deficit of 840 million. DKK, which brings the total deficit for 2020 to 6.8 billion. DKK
It is particularly disappointments in the Indian market and budget overruns on projects in Northern Europe that are behind the large deficit, which has only been worsened by the corona crisis, Siemens Gamesa states in its accounts.
Optimistic future
Andreas Nauen and the new team at the head of Siemens Gamesa have presented a new strategy for 2021-2023 that is intended to turn the fortunes of the onshore department, which is to make money to the same extent as the offshore and service departments.
Despite the disappointing accounts for 2020, there is light ahead, as Siemens Gamesa has had a record order intake in the past 12 months with an increase of almost 20 percent from last year.
In the past 12 months, Siemens Gamesa has received orders for 110 billion DKK, while the total order book now contains projects worth DKK 220 billion, which gives Siemens Gamesa a solid foundation to continue working on.
